PDEA agents pass surprise drug test

AGENTS of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in the Cordillera Administrative Region was tested negative for use of dangerous drugs during a surprise drug test last week this afternoon at the PDEA regional office in Camp Bado Dangwa, La Trinidad, Benguet.

On hand to witness the drug testing of all personnel is Undersecretary and PDEA director general Isidro Lapeña.

Lapeña also led the inauguration of the refurbished regional office while urging PDEA agents from the Cordilleras to triple their efforts in the relentless war against dangerous drugs.

The mandatory drug testing of personnel is conducted to ensure no PDEA employee is using dangerous drugs.

This is also to prove that internal cleansing in the anti-drug agency is continuous amidst the anti-illegal drug campaign launched by President Rodrigo Duterte.

Earlier, a drug pusher fell into the arms of anti-narcotics agents during a buy-bust operation at First Road, Quezon Hill Proper, Baguio City.

Brian Bulante Llabres, 30 years old, taxi driver, native of Masbate and resident of Pinsao Pilot, Baguio City was arrested when he sold a heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing suspected shabu worth P6,000 to a PDEA-CAR undercover agent.

The suspect is now detained at the Baguio City Jail while a case for violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of Republic Act Number 9165, otherwise known as "The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002" had been filed against him. (PDEA-CAR PR)
