A LATE afternoon bomb scare suspended the evening classes at STI West Negros University (STI-WNU) in Bacolod City Tuesday.

Senior Inspector Elmer Bonilla, head of Police Station 4, said Zoriada Martinez, the university’s executive secretary, received a text from an unidentified sender around 5 p.m. telling her, “the bomb is at STI.”

This prompted her to instruct the university’s head guard to ask for police assistance.

Personnel of Police Station 4 conducted a thorough inspection of the vicinity. The faculty, students and employees were directed to evacuate the school buildings.

After an hour and a half, police declared the school campus negative of any explosive.

It was just a hoax, Bonilla said.

School officials advised the students to return the following day.
