Teleperformance levels series, 1-1

TELEPERFORMANCE kept their championship hopes alive after routing IQor, 73-53, in Game 2 to level the Davao Call Center Basketball League (DCCBL) best-of-three finals series at 1-all.

Adolf Gemarino led the charge for Teleperformance after pouring in 21 points including 12 in the second canto while Dave Cadano chipped in 11.

Winston Braza scored team-high 15 for IQor in the game held recently at the Gaisano Grand Citimall SkyGym.

IQor pulled off a good start in the first quarter outscoring Teleperformance, 13-7. But the next three quarters were an all Teleperformance affair, starting off with the second quarter surge led by Gemarino.

Teleperformance head coach Mark Xavier de Guzman told Sun.Star Davao in an interview that they just needed to control the tempo of the game through their run-and-gun style of play while pressuring the ball handlers of IQor.

“What we need to do is to pressure them and at the same time impose our run-and-gun play. If we continue to convert on transition fast breaks, the game is ours,” de Guzman said.

He added that they will have to work on taking care of the ball more in Game 3.

Braza, meanwhile, said in a separate interview that their team suffered a big blow after losing their star player Nash Ignacio who moved to Cebu City. He said they will have to make changes in the lineup and find which rotation could be more effective.

The final showdown is set on Sunday at the same venue.
