Oro’s Muay Thai fighters off to Bangkok campaign

CAGAYAN de Oro pride Ely Fernandez and two others will make their first international campaign in the 2017 World Muay Boran Championships on March 12 to 20 in Bangkok, Thailand.

The 19-year-old Fernandez will carry the banner of the Mindanao Ultimate Mixed Martial Arts (Mumma) and the city to the week-long world tournament, which is a muay thai combat tournament.

He will put himself in tough challenge in the international circle against different nationals since winning a gold in the Philippine National Muay Thai Championship last December in Pasig City.

However, there is no word yet if he will fight in the same weight category in his latest fighting weight at 54 kilos.

Also making their first international appearance are Yncent Pol Calibjo and Kirby Jay Pungtod.

"Sana maawa si Lord at makauwi din kami ng panalo," said coach Beh Barothy Hung, who owns and manages Mumma.

Their campaign is being supported by Green Cars Cagayan de Oro, Car Medics and Pungtod himself.
