Phoenix off-road, motocross set Mar. 18-19

PHOENIX Petroleum Philippines, Incorporated (PPPI) will hold the first Maxxis 4x4 Cup Extreme Off-Road Challenge and Phoenix Cyclomax Motocross on March 18 and 19 in Barangay Langub, Davao City.

In a press conference held at the Go Hotels yesterday, PPPI vice-president for external affairs, business development and security lawyer Raymond T. Zorrilla said it will be their first time to stage the off-road challenge.

"As Phoenix Petroluem has become the leading independent oil company and homegrown brand in the Philippines, we are bringing exciting events for Dabawenyos and guests in the upcoming 80th Araw ng Dabaw Festival," Zorrilla, who was also joined by PPPI corporate affairs manager Ben Sur, Davao City Tourism Operations Office officer-in-charge Gene Rose Tecson and MotoX Davao team manager Norben "Bok" Mata, said.

He also said that sponsoring the National Association of Filipino Off-Roaders event will showcase Davao City as an off-road destination in the region and prove that Phoenix lubricants can withstand difficult situations.

"We also wanted to prove that our lubricants are not at par with the leading brands but better," he said.

Motocrros organizer Mata, for his part, said he expects more than 120 motocross enthusiasts who will strut their stuff in the two-day competition that included Davao Exclusive and Enduro-Davao Exclusive categories.

Other categories are Pantra Open, Pee Wee 50cc, Enduro Open, Peewee 65cc, Pantra-Davao Exclusive and Enduro-Davao Exclusive which will be held on the first day while the second day will feature production bikes entered in beginners class, intermediate open, super mini, expert open, novice open, executive open, novice lites and pro-open event.
