3 killed in separate shooting, road incidents in the province

THREE persons died in separate shooting and road incidents in Danao City, Borbon, and Tabuelan in the past two days.

Last Thursday, a vendor of used clothing was shot to death by an unidentified gunman in Sitio Sili, Barangay Mantija, Danao City.

Police identified the casualty as Amerlito Durado Manco, 37.

The victim was shot in the chest. He was rushed by relatives and neighbors to the Danao City Provincial Hospital, but he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Investigation showed the victim was urinating outside his house around 4 a.m. when the gunman shot him.

Police are still investigating the motive behind the killing.

Later, at 7 p.m., a security guard was killed after a gas tanker ran over him in Barangay Poblacion, Borbon.

Eliseo Urot Estrobo, 33, suffered severe head injuries.

Before the incident, Estrobo was on his motorcycle tailing the tanker driven by Bert Duranco Teopiz, 47.

The tanker had come from Cebu City and was transporting gasoline to Tabogon.

Investigation showed the victim tried to overtake the tanker, but he stepped on the brakes when he noticed a vehicle in the opposing lane.

Estrobo’s motorcycle slipped, and he fell on the road where he was run over by the tanker’s left rear wheel.

At 9 a.m. yesterday, Ariel Tuling, 17, died while his cousin John Roque, 15, was injured after their motorcycle was hit by a 10-wheeler truck in Barangay Maravilla, Tabuelan.

Tuling was driving his motorcycle when it hit the rear wheel of the truck driven by Melchor Romo, 58.

The victims were thrown on the road. Tuling’s severe head injuries caused his death.
