Davraa spikers score

THE Davao Regional Athletic Association (Davraa)-bound High School volleybelles defeated Ace Volleyball Club, 16-25, 25-17, 25-23, in the opener of the Balibolista de Dabaw-sanctioned 2nd Davao Doctors College (DDC) Volleyball Cup "Battle for the Finest" at the DDC Gymnasium recently.

Balibolista de Dabaw coordinator Abet Bernan, in Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) forum held at The Annex Events Center of SM City Davao, on Thursday, February 23, said the volleyfest was presented by the DDC Hospitality Management Department and Events Management Class of Batch 2017.

"The Davraa players are exposed to a high-level of competition considering that they competing against collegiate and commercial teams in this event," Bernan said, adding that the event may help them gain experience and exposure, making them wiser when they go out to represent the city.

Bernan said the women's division comprises four brackets with the Davraa team joining Holy Cross of Davao College (HCDC), Jose Maria College (JMC) and Ace Volleyball Club in pool C.

Pool A, however, is composed of Philippine National Police (PNP), Ateneo de Davao University (ADDU), Philippine Nikkei Jin Kai (PNJK) and Ignite while competing in pool B are University of Mindanao, Land Transportation Office (LTO), DCC and Philippine Women's College.

In pool D, Davao Optima will play against San Pedro College (SPC), University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) and Megatesting.

In men's division, teams entered are GGB, Incantadia, PWC, ADDU, HCDC, Bangkal, JMC, USeP, UM, University of Immaculate Concepcion High School, Star Magic Minai, Davao Optima, Pandas, King 6 and DDC.

Bernan, however, said the games will be played on weekends from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., adding that the semifinals is set on March 11 while the finals is on March 12.

Gate fee is pegged at P20. ABM
