GAMAY, Northern Samar -- The police arrested on February 22 Juanito Pajares, 44, and his brothers Wilmar, 42, and Sammy, 40, all residents of Barangay Anito in this town for a crime they allegedly committed 20 years ago.
Policemen arrested the trio by virtue of arrest warrant dated July 24, 1997 and issued by Judge Jose Mijares of Regional Trial Court Branch 21 in Laoang, Northern Samar.
The trio were charged with frustrated homicide with a recommended bail bond of P20,000 each.
Police Provincial Director Ceasar Tannagan said the suspects went into hiding for two decades until last Wednesday, February 22, when a concerned citizen tipped the police off regarding their whereabouts.
Tannagan attributed the successful operation to the “strong partnership” between the police and the community in the area.
