San Fernando bishop warns of scam

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- San Fernando Archbishop Emeritus Paciano “Apu Ceto” renewed Friday his call against scammers using his name for unauthorized solicitations.

In a handwritten note scribbled on the official seal of the Office of the Archbishop Emeritus sent to Sun.Star Pampanga, Aniceto said that a solicitation letter coming from unscrupulous individuals has been going around since January 11, 2017.

A second letter nearly victimized Angeles City Councilor Jay Sangil, the prelate said in his advisory warning the public on the scam letter using his name to solicit funds for fictitious purposes.

“Please be advised that I have not authorized anyone to solicit money for false projects,” he said in the advisory.

“A scam letter has been circulating since January 11, 2017,” he added.

It was prudent of the Angeles City councilor not to give in to the letter, he furthered.

“A second letter nearly victimized Angeles City Councilor Jay Sangil. The good councilor is prudent not to give any donation,” Aniceto said.

“Please don’t fall into the trap of this false fund raising project. God bless you,” stressed Aniceto. (JTD)
