Drug ops yield 3, den dismantled

THE residents’ vigilance led the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) 7 operatives to the arrest of three suspected drug personalities and the dismantling of a drug den in Barangay Basak Pardo, Cebu City last Thursday night.

Leia Albiar, PDEA 7 information officer, said the neighbors of the suspects informed the officials of the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (Badac) about the presence of strangers in the house rented by Jeffrey Pinili, 26, and his brother Arwin, 27.

“Most of them were young. They arrived (in the area) on motorcycles at night,” Albiar said in Cebuano.

Albiar believes some of Pinili’s customers are students.

After Badac officials reported the unusual activities, PDEA agents placed the house under surveillance for two weeks and confirmed that the Pinilis are into the drug trade.

The brothers were arrested along with their alleged cohort Ryx Delfinado, a 25-year-old medical representative.

The suspects denied any involvement in the illegal drug trade but did not resist arrest.

The agents recovered from the suspects six grams of shabu worth P17,700 and drug paraphernalia.

Complaints for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, will be filed against the suspects.
