Labella clobbers VSMMC in UBL tourney

TEAM Vice Mayor Labella continued to reap wins, this time a 70-57 win against the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) in the elimination round of the Urban Basketball League (UBL) Aspa Cup 2017 held at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym last Sunday.

Former two-time Cesfi MVP Enrico Llanto led VM Labella to its fourth straight after scoring 29 points and 20 rebounds to help the team improve to 4-1.

VSMMC on the other hand, was led by Giovanni Canseko, who scored 12 points and Vernon Santos, who plucked down 20 rebounds.

DPWH, on the other hand, extended its winning streak to four games following a 70-63 win over an erstwhile undefeated Stay Fit squad, a 70-63 victory.

DPWH remains the only unbeaten team in the tournament so far. It was Stay Fit’s first loss in five matches.

Rhendy Alferez had 16 points and Earl Amistad had 16 rebounds for DPWH to deny the all-around performance of AJ San Juan, who scored 23 points on top of 15 rebounds and three assists, as Stay Fit dropped to 4-1.

Team MDC, on the other hand, arrested a losing slide with a 68-47 win over Focus.

Brian Acebedo scored 16 points and Jome Candar tallied 21 rebounds while pulling two steals and two blocks as MDC improved to 2-3 while Eduardo Patalinghug had 18 points and Niño Zanoria made 15 rebounds for Focus.
