City Council: Post 10 checkpoint rules

THE Bacolod City Council is pushing for the strict implementation of City Ordinance No. 547 which requires the posting of the “10 checkpoint rules” outlined in the Advisory Opinion No. 1 of the Department of Justice.

The resolution, authored by Councilor Caesar Distrito, pointed out that City Ordinance 547 requires law enforcement agencies to post the checkpoint rules enumerated by the DOJ.

The rules provide the necessary things to be done by law enforcers and by the citizens during conduct of checkpoints.

It has been observed that several checkpoints made in the city are not compliant with City Ordinance No. 547, the resolution stated.

The posting is one way of informing the city’s constituents that they do have rules when they are being subjected to a checkpoint and that the implementation of the latter has also limitations, it added.(CNC)
