BCPO overhauls anti-drug unit

THE Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) has implemented a reorganization within the City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group (CAIDSOTG) effective Thursday.

Senior Superintendent Melchor Coronel, officer-in-charge of BCPO, yesterday said the increasing reports about rampant illegal drug activities in the city led him to implement the said reorganization.

“In order for us to fully attend to these reports, we need to widen our anti-illegal drug operatives,” Coronel said, adding that Bacolod will be now divided into north and south sections, with corresponding team leaders and six personnel each.

Senior Insp. Jerick Filosofo, aside from his position as deputy chief of BCPO Operations Branch, has been designated chief of CAIDSOTG.

Former unit chief, Senior Inspector Stephen Boniba, will head the Bacolod-North Section, covering Burgos Street towards north areas of the city. From the same point towards south portion, the operations will be under Insp. Larry Teovisio.

Coronel clarified that the reorganization is not a form of demotion on the part of Boniba, who served as chief of the task group for more than three months after his designation as chief of Police Station 2.
