Mayor Lacson bares political options

MAYO David Albert Lacson said that his options for the May 2016 elections include running either for vice mayor or board member, representing the third district of Negros Occidental.

Lacson added that he has no plans of running for congressman.

“That is too far,” Lacson said when asked about the reports that he may run for congressman against incumbent Third District Rep. Alfredo Benitez.

There are speculations that Lacson, who is on his last term as mayor, may run for congressman because the acronym “Darling” has been talked about in the district. It stands for David Albert Robin Lacson (Darl) added with an -ing to make it “Darling.”

“Darling? Many are talking about it, but that is dangerous," Lacson quipped.

He also denied reports that he may run for vice governor in tandem with Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. if Fourth District Representative Jeffrey Ferrer decides to run for mayor of Bago City instead.

“I'm still thinking about my political plans. I have no decision yet. You will know that between now and October 15,” he added.

Asked about his first cousin, Third District Board Member Patrick Lacson, who has been visible in E.B. Magalona because of his plan to run for mayor, the mayor said he cannot answer for him.

“I don't know if he is busy campaigning for any position. You ask him. I cannot answer that question," Lacson said.

The mayor is reportedly supporting another candidate for mayor against his cousin.(TDE)
