#SHORTS: Ex-BuCor head Ragos surrenders to NBI; Rio's Carnival, a high-stakes samba parade; Magnitude-5 quake jolts Surigao del Norte

SURRENDERED. FORMER Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) officer-in-charge Rafael Ragos, one of the officials accused of being involved in the illegal drug trading in the New Bilibid Prison (NBP), on Sunday surrendered before the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).

FESTIVAL. Rio de Janeiro's Carnival parade is world famous for the samba dancing, costumes that leave little to the imagination and the magnificent floats that roll down Avenida Marques de Sapucai, also known as the "sambadrome."

EARTHQUAKE. A magnitude-5 earthquake struck Surigao del Norte early on Sunday, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
