A 25-year-old man died after he was hacked by his neighbor in Sitio Curbada, Barangay Poog, Toledo City last Saturday afternoon. Allan Pandanon Manaytay died in the hospital due to severe loss of blood. Suspect Richard Aparente surrendered to the police. Investigation showed that Aparente was driving his motorcycle on the highway when Manaytay attacked him with a blade for no reason.
Aparente evaded the attack but he went home, grabbed a long bolo and returned to the highway. He then hacked Manaytay’s left leg after he saw him.(KAL)
Man stabbed 13 times dies; suspect escapes
A 43-year-old man died after he suffered 13 stab wounds in different parts of his body last Saturday night in Sitio Sto. Niño, Barangay Casili, Consolacion. Joseph Cañete Ligtas was rushed by his neighbors and relatives to a hospital in Mandaue City, but the attending doctor failed to revive him. The alleged attacker, 47-year-old Henry Codera, escaped after the incident. Police investigators failed to recover the weapon used to attack Ligtas. Police officers are looking at personal grudge between the two as the motive behind the crime. KAL
Boy skips class for a swim, drowns in river
A 10-year-old boy who reportedly cut classes drowned while swimming with his friends in Sitio Anislag, Barangay Cambang-og, Toledo City. Police identified the fatality as Ike Daniel Dolino Milan. The incident happened in Sapangdaku River last Friday morning. Some residents saw the boy swimming in the river past 11 a.m. They panicked when the boy’s friends screamed for help. At 1:30 p.m., one of the rescuers found Milan under the water. Milan was rushed to the city’s public hospital, but the doctor declared him dead on arrival.(KAL)
Man in lapu hurts pal over food sauce
A man was stabbed by his friend in Pusok, Lapu-Lapu City yesterday morning after the latter allegedly got angry when his sauce was used. Gilbert Duran, 33, told authorities that the suspect, a certain “Piskat,” got angry at him when he didn’t ask permission for using the sauce while they were eating beside the Muelle Osmeña wharf.
“You don’t have manners,” the suspect said before stabbing Duran on his back. The victim ran to the Lapu-Lapu Police Station 3 to seek help. He was rushed to the hospital while the suspect fled after the incident. / JOB
Brothers shot for laughing so loud
Two brothers were shot and wounded in Sitio Lower Laguerta, Barangay Lahug, Cebu City yesterday dawn. Rolando Batac, 43, and his brother Raymundo, 39, were having a drinking session with their other relatives and were about to go home when they were shot by unidentified gunmen. Investigation revealed that the victims were laughing loudly, which is believed to be the reason the assailants got angry. The gunmen were not from the area but were drinking near the victims. The brothers are recovering at the Cebu City Medical Center.(JOB)
