#SHORTS: AFP checking reports of beheading of German hostage; Palace suspends classes due to transport strike; Davao Piston drivers will not join nationwide strike

BEHEADING. The Armed Forces of the Philippines are now verifying reports that the Abu Sayyaf Group have beheaded German hostage Juergen Gustav Kantner Sunday, February 26, for failure to pay ransom.

NO CLASSES. MalacaƱang has declared a suspension of classes in elementary and high school levels in areas which could be affected by the transport strike on Monday.

STRIKE. The public transport group Transport of Southern Mindanao for Solidarity, Independence and Nationalism (Transmision-Piston), a transport group based in Southern Mindanao, confirmed that they will not join the nationwide transport strike led by Piston, but they will hold a caravan to raise their concerns.
