Negros Oriental all set for Women’s Month celebration

THE Negros Oriental Commission on Women has lined up activities in celebration of the National Women’s Month, which will kick off on March 6 at Macias Sports Center in Dumaguete City.

The observance has the theme “We Make Change For Women,” which focuses on the key foundations on partnership for change and full implementation of the Magna Carta of Women.

The provincial commission invited Department of Social Welfare and Development-Negros Island Region Director Shalaine Lucero as guest speaker during the flag raising on March 6.

Lucero is expected to expound on the theme, which is anchored on the commitment of “Malasakit at Pagbabago” in the pursuit of development under Duterte’s administration.

On March 8, a Kapihan sa PIA Forum will be conducted at 9 a.m. at the Sidlakang Negros Village. It will tackle the issues and concerns of women in the province.

The International Women’s Day, with the theme #BeBoldForChange and which challenges the world to step up to take bold action that truly drives the greatest change for women, will also be held on the same day.

The commission will also join the gathering of women’s group on “My Freedom Day” activity of Visayan Forum and CNN on March 14 at Negros Oriental High School.

The month-long celebration also highlights the conduct of the two-day Gender Sensitivity Training with members of the Association of Negros Oriental Public Information Officers and the media on March 23 to 24 at Mabinay Spring in Mabinay town.

On March 30, more than 150 women’s groups and advocates are expected to participate in Women’s Congress to culminate the celebration at the Provincial Convention Center. (PIA)
