Olivar stops Agcopra in Lakay Championships 12

RIZALINO Olivar made short work of his opponent Saturday evening following a first round stoppage in the main event of Team Lakay Championships 12 at the Baguio Convention Center.

Olivar easily took out Norman Agcopra in the first round of their scheduled three-round encounter via an armbar and scored his eighth consecutive wins. Agcopra suffered his second loss in five MMA bouts.

“Since natupad ang game plan, masayang-masaya ako. Pinaghandaan namin ang game na ito,” said Olivar.

With the win, Olivar, of Team Lakay La Trinidad is looking forward to signing up with an international MMA organization in the future.

In the co-main event of the evening, Iranian Morteza Minbashi of Minbashi Team improved his record to 4–1, after barely escaping debuting Mark Tidang of Lakay Central Gym with a second round stoppage via guillotine choke. In the supporting card, Godwin Langbayan of Lakay La trinidad stopped Bener Santig of Yewchedelic MMA in the first round while Mhel Rimolar of Trbal Torogi edged Jaybe Ban-eg of Lakay La Trinidad with a kimura in the first round.

Remolar imporved to 5-1 while Ban-eg slides down to 3-3.

Dave Banguigui meanwhile scored his fifth victory in six bouts in a grueling third round decision against Gabriel Andres of Tribal Torogi who suffered his first loss in four bouts.

In the battle of foreign fighters, Palestine's Abdullah Sabri of Tribal Torogi secured his second win after a 3rd round technical knock - out of first time fighter South Korean Daniel Gwon of Lakay San Fernando.

Tribal Torogi's Jerry Olsim engaged Aldwin Nicdao of Lakay Central Gym in their three round encounter to win via unanimous decision. Olsim scored his second win in as many fights while Nicadao fell to 2-1.

Vincet Velaque of Lakay La Trinidad also scored his second victory in as many fights after a first round ground and pound stoppage of debuting Noel Golod of Kafagway MMA.

Lakay San Fernando's Jhan Serbo took out Christopher Miguel of Kafagway MMA via a first round standing guillotine for his third straight victory with Miguel going down to 1-1.

In the curtain raiser, Jhayson Cosme of Lakay La Trinidad scored an impressive win in his debut defeating Xavier Villanueva of Kafagway MMA via first round ground and pound. (Mitch Garganta and Maica Escosio/ UP – Baguio Intern)
