ALAN Calibo and Rolly Gempesao were the biggest winners of the recently-concluded Enchanting and Magical-themed marketing awards night of the 8990 Housing Development Corporation (HDC)-Davao Branch held at Salome's Garden in Cabantian village, Buhangin District, Davao City.
Both romped away with a brand new Mitsubishi Adventure each during the raffle. Calibo (compliance category) got a white one while Gempesao (sales category) went home with his red unit.
Calibo, who owns the Explorer Davao Realty Company, said: "Wala ko mag-expect kay kadaghan bya og entries ato (I really did not expect because there were too many entries)."
He only had 30 raffle tickets and winning a multicab three years ago somehow diminished his hope of winning another vehicle courtesy of 8990 HDC, which owns the Deca Homes brand.
Calibo, who became a unit manager in 2010, was overwhelmed by the many blessings he's been receiving since becoming a sub-agent in January 2004.
"Nalipay ko, ikalimang sakyanan na nako ni. Sa Deca Homes rajud nako na acquire ning tanang mga sakyanan (I am so happy, my new car was my fifth vehicle. I acquired all these through Deca Homes)," Calibo said, adding that he brought his white Adventure to General Santos City for his team to use during trips.
He also said that since going exclusive for Deca Homes in 2010 has made him achieve so much in life and his family has been living comfortably. When he started as unit manager, "ako driver, ako secretary, ako ahente (laughs)" but he currently has 10 staff with 25 full time sales agents and he maintains some 80 part-time agents.
"Nagpasalamat ko ni God napunta jud ko sa 8990 (I'm so thankful to God to be with 8990)," Calibo added.
He and his team look forward to selling more units when upcoming Mulig, Bago Gallera and Tigatto projects of Deca Homes get the needed permits to sell.
Deca Homes, according to him, is easy to sell because the product is good and affordable with hassle-free processing and easy move-in for homebuyers.
Gempesao, for his part, of C.G. Torefiel Realty under unit manager Charito Torefiel said, "Blessing ni kaayo, first car nako ni (This is such a blessing, this is my first car)."
With only 20 entries during the raffle, bringing home an Adventure was a distant hope for Gempesao. But owning one has pushed him not just to know how to drive a car but to also work harder.
"The new car has helped me with my work and has also inspired me to focus more on selling Deca Homes," the 26-year-old Gempesao, a freelance single agent from Tugbok District, said. He started selling Deca Homes two years ago. "Deca Homes changed my life from the start," he added.
Januario Jesus "JJ" Gregorio Bustos Atencio III, president and chief executive officer (CEO) of publicly-listed 8990 Holdings, Inc., has reiterated the company's thrust to transform lives not just of the homebuyers but as well as their staff and sellers for the better.
"Housing is just a strong vehicle to effect change. Hindi lang tayo nagbebenta ng bahay, may ginagawa rin tayo para din sa kabutihan ng iba," Atencio said.
Thankful
Evelyn Fulguerinas of Pabahay Realty Services was no pushover having been feted the 2016 Unit Manager of the Year Award. It was the second time she won the award, the last last time was in 2010.
Pabahay Realty Services also bagged the Top Producer of the Year 2016 Award having sold 598 units while Celestial Villacoal of Pabahay Realty Services was Individual Top Producer with 177 sales. Jaelen Bancale of the same agency was named best secretary 2016 awardee.
Fulguerinas said she's blessed to have 8990 HDC in her life, thanking the 8990 president Atencio, 8990 Mindanao general manager Mary Ann Chua whom she thanked for her wisdom and enthusiasm in leading all unit managers. She also thanked 8990 assistant general manager Engineer Juliet Domingo for her leadership and for being "responsive all the time".
Fulguerinas said these are people who are living testament of leadership, hardwork and good heart in providing homes for the Filipinos."
"I am very thankful to God for this award. He is indeed faithful. I am grateful to my very supportive husband and kids. This award would never be possible without my untiring team. The hard work of the Pabahay Realty staff and agents really paid off. I am just here to support them in the best way I can because I believe that if you take care of your people, sales will inevitably follow," Fulguerinas, who was also cited as Unit Manager of the Year nationwide, said.
The Group of the Year 2016 Award also went to Pabahay Realty Services for most number of sales with less cancellation/back-outs; most number of take-outs, most number of attendance to all marketing activities initiated by 8990 HDC like open house and marketing orientations, among others.
Calibo's Explorer Davao Realty Company bagged the 2016 Best in Compliance Award for prompt compliance submission of required correct documents within seven days and also the 2016 Best in Collection Efficiency Award for the most number of taken out accounts but with lesser defaulting accounts.
