PCF-based children, women’s center opens

SAN SIMON – As part of its program to promote women and children’s protection, the local government on Monday inaugurated the Local Support for Children and Women (LSCW) building at Barangay Sto. Niño.

Mayor Leonora Wong disclosed that the center is a product of the P3-million Performance Challenge Fund (PCF) given to the municipality for garnering the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) award in 2015.

She stressed the building will serve as a complaint desk for women and children who are being maltreated or abused both physically and verbally.

“Bilang isang babae at nanay, malaki ang concern natin sa kapwa natin kababaihan at mga anak na hindi nakakaranas ng tamang trato. At itong building na ito ay magsisilbing sumbungan nila,” she said.

She added that the LSCW building will also serve as venue for different information dissemination to educate the women and children of their rights.

Wong said that the facility is the first to be established in the three-hectare government center which will also house various public offices.

She added that the ceremony will kick-off the several groundbreaking and inauguration rites which will be witnessed soon in the area.
