Lady Knights FC eyes title-retention bid

THE Lady Knights Football Club will try to defend its title against Philippine College of Technology (PCT) when the 6th Davao Regional Football Association Under 17 Girls League will resume on March 11 at the Faith International Academy Football Field at Marfori Heights Subdivision, Davao City.

Lady Knights coach Rachelle delos Reyes, in a phone interview with SunStar Davao, said they sidelined their training due to exams this week.

"Eight of my players will play in the Regional Festival of Football on Valencia Bukidnon this weekend," Delos Reyes said, hoping that they could resume their training next week for the championship match against PCT.

She added that they are prepared with or without an upcoming tournament.

"May backbone kami (We have a backbone) to work as a team," she said, pertaining to vetaran players Chiyo Jan Marasigan, Bea de Luna, Joannah Marie Adao and Patricia Erika Fransisco in midfield with Julien Meredith Mirto as their striker.

PCT head coach Alvic Troyo, in a separate interview, said they had been preparing for the titular showdown against the Ateneo de Davao University High School girls-bannered Lady Knights.

"We are training three times a week at the Tionko Field every Monday, Wednesday and Friday," Troyo said as they aim to redeem from their defeat against the Lady Knights in the past edition with former girls national under-14 and under-16 player Joyce Semacio as key player.
