Fish dealer dead in hit and run incident

A FISH dealer died after a head-on collision with a race car driver at dawn Saturday, March 4.

Philip Pogoy, 26, who hails from Sitio Greenfield in Mandaue City, was killed when the motorcycle he was driving crashed into the Nissan sports car of David Go Lim, an active car racer, at 3 a.m. in Archbishop Reyes Avenue, Cebu City.

Lim reportedly fled from the incident and was fetched by another sports car, witnesses said.

Police Officer 3 Chaddy Jungoy of the Traffic Patrol Group said Lim's lawyer went to police earlier today to extend financial assistance to the family of the victim and to reach for a settlement.

Lawyer Pedro Leslie Salva said his client told him that he followed his lane while travelling on the flyover. He added his client is still in a state of shock.

According to police, the two were cruising in separate lanes on the Banilad-Talamban flyover.

Witnesses in the area claimed that the Gtr Skyline sports car was traveling at a fast rate and allegedly encroached on the lane of the motorcycle.

Pogoy was rushed to the Cebu City Medical Center but he was declared dead.

The Cebu City Traffic Office (CCTO) is still investigating the incident. (Johanna Marie O. Bajenting of SunStar Cebu, Joy Tumulak of SuperBalita Cebu)
