1,500 traffic aides for Araw ng Dabaw

A TOTAL of 1,500 traffic personnel will be deployed for the 80th Araw ng Dabaw celebration.

Davao City Traffic and Transport Management Office (CTTMO) Chief Retired Superintendent Dionesio Abude said in a text message to SunStar Davao that this is higher than they originally planned.

“We proposed 1,355 but it may increase to 1,500 because there have been adjustments to cater to additional events and also to assign more personnel to the original events,” Abude said.

The CTTMO has also prepared a traffic rerouting scheme for the Araw activities conducted at San Pedro Square.

Based on the copy of the photo of the rerouting, motorists will not be allowed to pass through San Pedro Street and Rizal Street corner Claro M. Recto Avenue on specific days to give way for the 80th Araw ng Dabaw activities.

Drivers going to San Pedro Street are advised to use Claro M. Recto Avenue and turn left to Bonifacio Street and then turn left to Anda Street or Legaspi Street on the assigned days of Araw activities.

The rerouting has been effective last March 1, March 3, and March 5 and will resume on March 10 to 12 from 5:00 p.m. to 10 p.m. for the Pasundayag: A Cultural Night.

The road rerouting will also be effective on March 14, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for the City Hall Employees day. It will also be followed from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on March 15, 2017 for the Globe Cheer dance Competition.

The same scheme will also be observed on the evening of March 16 and 17 for the Duyog Dabaw Activity and Davao City Street Party, respectively.

And it will also be likewise observed on March 18, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. for the San Miguel Corporation Activity. Separate traffic re-routing schemes were also issued on the Women’s Day Parade and the Parada Dabawenyo.
