Duterte names 3 members of SBMA Board of Directors

PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte has appointed three members of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority’s (SBMA) Board of Directors.

On February 17, Duterte named Jorge Salang Estanislao and Julius Escalona, who will respectively represent the municipalities of Morong and Hermosa in Bataan.

Estanislao will serve until September 22, 2019, while Escalona, who replaced John Philip Chua Chiaco, will assume post until October 8, 2018.

Three days after the two’s appointments, Duterte tapped Marvin Ted Rementilla Macapagal as replacement of former SBMA Board of Director Francis Garcia, representing the national government.

Macapagal’s term will expire on September 22, 2022.

Under the Bases Conversion and Development Act of 1992, the SBMA Board of Directors will be composed of 15 members.

It includes representatives from different sectors like the local government units (LGUs) that concur to join the Subic Special Economic Zone; two from the national government; five from the private sector; and the remainder from the business and investment sectors.

The members of the SBMA Board of Directors serve a term of six years, except for the representatives of the LGUs who serve a term of three years. (SunStar Philippines)
