Taekwondo blackbelt is PMA ‘Tarzan’

A FORMER taekwondo world gold medalists is this year’s recipient of the Athletic Saber from the 167 strong members of the of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Salaknib Class of 2017.

Cadet First Class Franklin Dellomos will be this year's class "Tarzan" after his stellar performance in different taekwondo and arnis competitions during his four year stint at the country’s premiere military school as member of the Sanggalang ay Lakas at Buhay na Alay para sa Kalayaan ng Inang Bayan (Salaknib) class.

"I have been into taekwondo since I was in grade 1 and I used it as my foundation when it comes to training discipline after I entered the academy," said the 23–year–old incoming lieutenant of the Philippine Air Force.

Prior to joining the academy, Dellomos competed in the 5th World Taekwondo Cultur Expo held in 2011 in South Korea where he won a gold in the poomsae event and a silver in kyurogi where he bested participants coming from 31 countries across the globe.

Dellomos, who entered the academy in 2013, represented PMA in other local and national competition where he had five gold medals in the Region 1 Taekwondo Championship.

The son of an enlisted air force, personnel Dellomos also won bronze medals in the Baguio – Benguet Educational Athletic League and the National Taekwondo Championship since 2013.

Aside from taekwondo, Dellomos also plays arnis and has also won numerous medals representing the academy.
