GLANCE: Celebrating Timeless Distinction" was how the Cebu City Marriott Hotel celebrated its "20 years of service excellence and brilliant hosting." The three-day event included a bridal fair showcasing Cebu's top wedding suppliers, and culminated with a program featuring Marriott's Partners in Excellence Awards followed by a Grand Bridal Fashion Show.
On the frontline was hotel general manager Patrick Carroll who welcomed the guests and thanked them for their support all these years. On the other hand, director of sales and marketing Cleofe Albiso spoke about the event's rationale and gave recognition to the icons of the wedding and events industry, among them, ace photographer Lemuel Arrogante; event stylists Teresin Mendezona and Pinky Chang; Gilbert Go of Gap Mobile; Marissa Unchuan of Mrs. U Foods; and designers Harley Ruedas, Philipp Tampus, Marichu Tan, Geson, OJ Hofer, Jun Escario and Philipp Rodriguez.

It was in 1967 when Oro China Jewelry had its humble beginnings here in the dear old town and now, the homegrown Cebuano brand has become one of the premier jewelry stores in the country with more than 30 branches nationwide. A golden celebration was definitely in order to celebrate its 50th year in the business.
Venue of the cocktail-dinner festivities was the Radisson Blu Cebu where a gala fashion show unfolded showcasing an array of beautiful jewelry pieces accenting the designs of Cebu and Manila designers Philip Rodriguez, Cary Santiago, Arcy Gayatin, Jun Escario, Rajo Laurel, Francis Libiran and Randy Ortiz. Very much around were the Oro China brand ambassadors Cheska Garcia-Kramer, Isabelle Daza and Gloria Diaz.

When Tina Ebrada established Golden Cowrie in Lahug decades ago, it became the talk of the town and the toast of Cebu. A few years back she decided to retire and the Kokseng's Cebu Golden Restaurant Inc. took over. Young and aggressive, the new owners have expanded the reach of Golden Cowrie to the different malls in Cebu as well as to other places in the country.
Director for product development Kristine De La Riva Kokseng says Golden Cowrie Filipino Kitchen "brings something new to the table by re-interpreting classic dishes." They have also added new items to the menu. The latest Golden Cowrie branch is on level 4 at Garden Area of Ayala Center Cebu.
