Farmer’s song chosen as strawberry fest song

A FARMER from Poblacion bested 12 other finalist to bag the top price and become the official song for the Strawberry Festival of La Trinidad.

Forty-six years old Denver Daniel’s composition entitled La Trinidad was inspired by the unity of the town which took him three days to compose the song.

"I have seen the unity of the people of La Trinidad. There are many provinces that produce Strawberry but only in La Trinidad produce the sweetest Strawberry," Daniel explained.

Daniel explained the first stanza is about inviting the people to visit the municipality while the second stanza introduces the characteristics of the people of La Trinidad with the third stanza serving as a prayer to God, thanking him for his creation.

The farmer added the song was originally composed for the Adivay Festival of the province but was not lucky enough.

“This composition actually is my entry for Adivay, but I never heard from organizers about it for a year so when a friend of mine told me there’s a contest for La Trinidad’s Strawberry Festival, I changed the lyrics,” he added.

Daniel added he didn’t compose the lyrics basing on this year’s theme because the theme changes and the main objective of the contest is to have an official theme song for Strawberry Festival.

His composition, La Trinidad aside from being the official theme song of the festival, will also be added as one of the piece to be performed by the participants in the drum and lyre competition.
