TO the untrained eye, being a blogger looks like a fun and effortless occupation. Well it is—fun, but hardly effortless. Like most jobs it requires discipline, passion, dedication. Most of all, it has to have a clear voice. Take a cue from the roster of notable bloggers packed with years of experience. They make it look so easy (props to them!) but it’s hard work.
Kryz Uy, one of the country’s top bloggers and recently published author, shares her journey through her book titled Behind the Blog.
Published by ABS-CBN Publishing Inc. and launched last Dec. 4, 2016 during the first Christmas Book Bazaar of National Book Store held at The Northwing atrium of SM City Cebu, the book chronicling the blog’s and her beginnings gives its readers a side of Kryz one wouldn’t see online.
It ranked sixth on National Bookstore’s best sellers in the non-fiction Philippine publications category last January, and fifth last month.
“I wanted to create something that had meaning and something that I would genuinely be proud of. I was at a time in my life when I felt I had so much new insight to share about the digital industry, and more importantly, about the lessons I’ve learned along the way,” she said. “It’s not a compilation of blog posts or a book of selfies and OOTDs (Outfit of the Day). It’s everything that you wouldn’t catch me posting online; it’s insecurities and heartbreak, the real deal behind-the-scenes without any filters.”
From the first entries, her style journey, stories about how she met her blogger besties to memorable adventures (and misadventures) in life, the book shows a detailed and colorful tale of her life as a blogger as well as collection of thoughts and dreams throughout the years; a journey that she hopes will inspire others.
“I want them to realize that no one is perfect. No one has to be. When I get messages asking me #HowToBeYouPo, I want them to read the book. People shouldn’t want to be like me. They should love who they are and where they are in life. I want people reading the book to realize they are their most beautiful when they are truly themselves,” said Kryz.
