CPPO chief backs death penalty

CEBU Provincial Police Office Director Eric Noble favors the reimposition of death penalty, saying it will help prevent persons from committing heinous crimes.

Sa giyera may mamamatay, meron ding mabubuhay. (In war, there will be deaths but there are also those who will live),” he said.

Noble said he is convinced with the viewpoint of Sen. Manny Pacquiao, who said that God allows capital punishment.

Noble also believes that the criminal justice system in the country is not flawed, but he did not elaborate further on the matter.

Some of the congressmen opposed the death penalty bill, stating that the justice system is not error-free.

They said there were innocent people who got jailed, after they were wrongly accused of committing a crime.
