A HUNDRED years ago, and a few days to add to the sum, a lady was born, Argentina Santa Cruz Zayco, to Remedios Zayco Rubin and Luis Santa Cruz.
She married a Castilian from La Rioja, Spain and they had four children namely Nene, Ana Marie, Maripi and Paulita.
Argentina now fondly called Tining is the eldest among three living sisters – Linda who is 98 years, Aselita (Asley) Echarri 88 years. These women must be truly blest with the gift of life.
Turning a hundred years is a rare event which should be celebrated with all the near and dear ones. As the family has its roots in Kabankalan City, it was a reunion not to be missed by the most immediate and extended members of the family from far and near.
From the break of dawn, celebrations to thank God for the precious gift of this lovely woman went on until everyone dropped from sheer partying.
It has been some years since Tita Tining has been widowed, but her life has never been idle. The closeness and intimacy of family and friends has made her appreciate the best of life.
Leisure is enjoyed by playing mahjong until a few back when glaucoma set in. Until she was agile and able, traveling has been one of her passions and gardening, listening to music and sewing.
For one who is a hundred years old, this great grandmother can still rock it in the dancefloor! Dear God! What a blessing!
