Duterte, Robredo meet at PMA graduation

BAGUIO CITY -- President Rodrigo Duterte on Sunday acknowledged the presence of Vice President Leni Robredo at the commencement exercises of Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Class of 2017 here in Fort del Pilar.

Despite apparent tension between the two due to political differences, Duterte shook Robredo's hand upon his arrival.

The Vice President was likewise all-smiles when she faced the Chief Executive.

Duterte and Robredo had been invited to grace the graduation of PMA "Salaknib" Class of 2017.

The two were seated in between Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana.

This was the first time the two were spotted together this year, following their reported discord when Duterte instructed Robredo to no longer attend Cabinet meetings in December last year.

Duterte would award the Presidential Saber to Cadet (Cdt) 1st Class Rovi Mairel Valino Martinez while Robredo would award the Vice Presidential Saber to Cdt 1st Class Philip Modestano Viscaya.

The President is also expected to deliver a keynote speech for the PMA graduates.

Duterte and Robredo last met in a Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council held at MalacaƱang Palace early January.

Robredo had become outspoken against the policies implemented by the Duterte administration, after she had been restricted from attending Palace activities.

Duterte, on the other hand, had accused the Liberal Party, from which Robredo is among the leaders, of organizing an impeachment plot against him. (SunStar Philippines)
