Benguet losing millions from boundary disputes

BENGUET is continuously losing money from land disputes.

Governor Crescencio Pacalso said the province is losing millions which could have been used for the development of the province.

Pacalso said Itogon and Bokod for one, is losing about P50 million from their land dispute.

But, in the case of Itogon and Tuba, the two towns have agreed to split their share on national wealth tax pending the resolution of their actual boundaries.

The governor is seeking the cooperation of every municipality to inform them of concerns on land disputes so the province may extend their assistance.

"Only few have been settled. All the rest, we thought they have no problems about their lands, but when we call them they now raise their land conflicts," Pacalso stated.

Pacalso hopes these land disputes settled fastest possible time.

Benguet has also unresolved disputes with the Pangasinan, Ilocos Sur, and Nueva Vizcaya.

Aside from the land dispute between Bokod, Itogon, and Tuba, the towns of Bokod, Kabayan, Tublay, Atok, Mankayan and Buguias have also similar issue.
