BACOLOD will host the 1st Food Safety Conference in Visayas on June 25 to 26.
This was revealed by Marivic Rio, management team head of Project OURFood: Optimizing and Upscaling Roles in the Food Supply Chain.
The conference will gather all food safety team from Negros Occidental and Oriental, Cebu and Davao for the two-day conference, she said.
A German consultant and various successful entrepreneurs in the country are expected to come to share best practices and standards on food safety, Rio said.
She added that local processors and producers will also be updated on the new food safety law to be discussed by an official from Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
"The conference will further boost local food industry upscaling and upgrading it to be more competitive with the international markets through learning and understanding more about food safety standards," Rio added.
Meanwhile, the Negrense Seal of Excellence consortium will also be launched on the said conference. Through this consortium, local companies that cannot afford international certification due to expensive fees can now be recognized and certified at the local level, she added.
