Lady Knights retain title

THE Lady Knights Football Club retained its title after posting a 5-1 victory over Philippine College of Technology (PCT) in the 6th Davao

Regional Football Association under 17 Girls League that came to a close Saturday, March 11, at the Faith International Academy Football Field at Marfori Heights Subdivision, Davao City.

Patricia Erika Francisco of Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU)-bannered Lady Knights started the ball rolling with a goal in the eighth minute followed by another marker courtesy of Julien Meredith Mirto in the 16th minute.

But Joyce Semacio scored in the 22nd minute for PCT to go within striking distance.

Lady Knights' Angelica Beatrx Magno netted a goal in the 24th as teammates Alessandra Ysabel Aquino on chipped in goals in 49th and 52nd, respectively.

Coach Racelle "Ching" Delos Reyes, told SunStar Davao, that it takes a lot of practice and commitment to the sport to retain the title for the past six years.

"The team was very committed to their practices and preparation whole year round," delos Reyes said, adding that she was happy with the performance of her athletes despite the limited time for practices due to exams and other school-related commitments.

She added that her players have adjusted well in their transition training from futsal to football.

"I am also thankful that there were no injuries," said Delos Reyes whose team is also preparing for the upcoming Davao Regional Athletic Association (Davraa) Meet 2017.

Special awards were given to Semacio (best striker), Shanelle Ostan (best midfielder), Julianna Raine Taojo (best defender), and Chiyo Jan

Marasigan (best goal keeper).

The Crossing Bayabas National High School (CBNHS) placed third after routing host Faith International Academy (FIA), 5-0.
