2nd Sun Cellular Visayas Leg badminton tilt set June 12-14

HUNDREDS of young shuttlers in the Visayas are expected to arrive in Bacolod City on June 12-14 for the 2nd Sun Cellular National Juniors Badminton Tournament-Visayas Leg at the Pohang Badminton Center.

Sanctioned by the Philippine Badminton Association (PBA), the tournament will feature boys’ singles, girls’ single, boys’ doubles, girls’ doubles and mixed doubles events for U19 (1997- 1998), U17 (1999-2000), U15 (2001-2002), boys’ singles and girls’ for U13 (2003-2004), and U11 (2005-later).

The tournament is open to all players in good standing with the Organizing Committee and PBA where results will be submitted through its Philippine National Ranking Systems (PNRS).

Foreigners may also join the tournament, but will not receive PNRS points. For the doubles event, a foreign player can partner with a Filipino, however, the pair will not receive PNRS points.

A player is allowed to play for a maximum of two events only.

Members of the Philippine Juniors team are encouraged to join the tournament of either the region of their residence, or the location of their school. They are, however, limited to play in one region only.

Players must submit, along with a copy of their entry form, a copy of their NSO birth certificate.

Champions in each event will earn the right to represent their respective regions in the national finals on September 26 and 27 in Cebu City.

The general competition regulations of BWF shall be applicable to the tournament. Registration fee is P500 on the first event and P200 on the second event.

Manager’s meeting and drawing of lots will be on June 11.
