14 hopefuls advance to Jr. NBA national camp

A MAJORITY of Cebu-based players and a few out-of-towners stood out in the two-day Jr. NBA Philippines 2017 presented by Alaska Visayas Regional Selection Camp at the Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC) Gym and will advance to the National Selection Camp in May.

Cebu’s Nichael Cabonero of Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC), Reinard Jumamoy of University of San Carlos (USC) North, Jericho Diloria of Cebu Eastern College (CEC) and Jessray Enriquez of USC South, while visiting cagers Rolando Abad of St. Anthony High School, Joshua Baldonado of St. John’s Institute Bacolod and Zhan Moreno of Xavier University all advanced to the next stage of the Jr. NBA.

Cebuana’s Ynna Abella of Sotero Cabahug Forum for Literacy, Princess Delig of Abellana National School (ANS), Chinnsai Deanna of University pf the Visayas (UV) Mandaue, Tara Sabalones of Montessori Academy of Southern Cebu Inc., Frenzie Tagalog of University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) and Maybelle Retubado of Bulacao Community High School, while out-of-towner Aishe Solis of Marymount Academy made it to the next stage of the Jr. WNBA.

The 14 will join other players who also advanced in the other regional selection camps in the the National Training Camp on May 11 and 12 in Manila.

Eight boys and eight girls of the National Training Camp will be chosen as the Jr. NBA and Jr. WNBA All-Stars. The All-Stars will have an NBA experience and will also be playing with other Jr. NBA All-Stars from Southeast Asian.

Some of the players who stood out in past Visayas Regional Selection Camps are Southwestern University star Mark Jayven Tallo, De La Salle University’s Kib Montalbo and Far Eastern University’s Rendell Senining.
