Rain or Shine is back

RAIN or Shine gained a measure of retribution against its Commissioner’s Cup tormentors at the backyard of one of its leaders.

Playing in front of Jeff Chan’s compatriots, the Elasto Painters struck the Tropang Texters with a spirited second half attack to come away with an easy 88-73 vic tory Saturday at the University of St. La Salle Coliseum in Bacolod City.

The second straight win tied Rain or Shine with Talk ‘N Text and idle Ginebra at 3-4, putting it on a three-way tie at the seventh place in the 2015 PBA Governors’ Cup.

Rain or Shine had to battle back from being down by as big as 15, 30-15, early in the second quarter and got its bearings late, dominating the paint with 54 points, against just 26 for Talk ‘N Text.

Wendell McKines exploded in the final two cantos, scoring 16 of his 28 points in the second half, on a 12-of-19 shooting from the field, to go with 16 rebounds and three assists.

Chan also had 10 markers and eight boards in the win in front of his hometown fans, while Raymond Almazan added six of his 10 points in the payoff period.

The loss sent Talk ‘N Text sprawling to its third straight defeat, its longest losing streak over the last two conferences.

Steffphon Pettigrew paced the Tropang Texters with 17 points and seven rebounds, while Jayson Castro and Ranidel de Ocampo finished with 16 and 13 markers, respectively.(PBA)
