JJ UNGAB AS LAWYER
Remember Ronda, Cebu Vice Mayor Jonnah John Ungab who’s lawyering for Kerwin Espinosa whom police tagged as the suspected top drug personality in Eastern Visayas.
JJ Ungab’s name came up again following the Senate report yesterday that Kerwin’s father former Albuera, Leyte mayor Rolando Espinosa Sr. was indeed executed by police serving warrant on the mayor and another co-accused in the Baybay, Leyte jail. It was aimed to silence them, the two Senate committees said in their report.
JJ, as Kerwin’s lawyer, quoted his client as saying the Espinosa family was “vindicated” by the report. A total of 28 CIDG operatives, led by Chief Inspector Marvin Marcos, had already been charged by NBI with the justice department.
As to JJ, the accusation of “drug protector” still hangs. Cases filed in October 2016 against him and several others have still to reach the court.

MARITAL PROBLEM
Apparently already settled was JJ’s marital problem when his wife figured in a March 2016 public incident with a woman lawyer suspected as Jonnah John’s lover. It involved a baseball bat and a pepper spray allegedly used on the wife and the lawyer’s car allegedly used to ram the wife.
On the “drug protector” rap, the state has to prove that JJ went beyond the protection that lawyers legally give their drug lord clients.
