Hogtied body stuffed in sack; suspects surrender

Two men surrendered on Monday March 13, a day after a hogtied body was found stuffed inside a sack in Cagayan de Oro City.

The suspects Freddie Boyles, 48, and Rogel Salinas, 22, were brought by Police Senior Inspector Rutherford Ondin and Police Officer 2 Virgilio Dagcuta to Agora Police Station around 4 p.m., Monday.

On Sunday, March 12, the police recovered the body of 31-year-old Arvil Espinosa Ignacio inside the dirty kitchen of the victim's house at Phase 2-B, Gusa village.

The police found his head smashed and his hands and feet bound.

Earlier, the suspects sent word of their surrender to the police through Feve Jean Boyles, daughter of Freddie Boyles and Salinas' common-law wife.

Since Sunday, the police have been in pursuit of the suspects.

According to some people in the area who were questioned, Ignacio was last seen drinking with his cousins and friends last Sunday from morning until about seven in the evening.

Thelma Boyles, who was considered close to a mother by the victim, testified she last had contact with Ignacio around 3 p.m. Sunday, wherein she was disregarded after reprimanding him for drinking too much.

The Scene of the Crime Operatives who investigated the body said there is a large possibility that the victim was hit in the head by a wooden object which caused his death.
