Worker killed by colleague
A construction worker was shot dead while he was sleeping on the sixth floor of a newly-constructed building on F. Ramos St., Barangay Sta. Cruz last Sunday evening. Police identified the victim as Patricio Leynes, 54, a mason who hailed from Laguna City. He was shot by Romil Legaspi, 28, a steel man from Bulacan City, because of a personal grudge. Legaspi had reportedly refused the invitation of their co-workers to eat because he had to kill someone first. A manhunt operation is being conducted by the police for the suspect. JOB

Korean drowns in Cordova
A 69-year-old Korean national drowned in the swimming pool of a resort in Barangay Alegria, Cordova last Sunday morning. Police identified the casualty as Soon Nam Choi. She was swimming with her friends and family before her body was found floating in the pool. She was rushed to a private hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival. Her relatives refused an autopsy. A doctor found no signs of foul play in the foreigner’s death. KAL

Lechon trader dies in crash
A 47-year-old roasted pig trader died after an accident on the highway in Barangay Abugon, Sibonga last Sunday. Victim Maritess Restauro Paraz succumbed to injuries in the head and other parts of her body. Investigation showed that Paraz was on a motorcycle driven by Johndy, her 46-year-old husband. He sustained injuries. Before the accident happened at 10:45 a.m., witnesses saw Johndy overtake a tricycle. He then lost control of the motorcycle and crashed. The couple was rushed to the Cebu Provincial Hospital in Carcar City, but Maritess did not survive. KAL

Man kills younger brother
A man was arrested for stabbing his younger brother to death last Sunday morning in Sitio Sto. Niño 1, Barangay Luz, Cebu City. Julius Corbeta, 41, stabbed his own brother, Welmer, 38, because of ill feelings. The suspect attacked Welmer while the latter was drinking with his friends. He was rushed to a private hospital but was declared dead on arrival. Initial investigation revealed that the suspect harbored grudges against his brother for allegedly having an affair with his girlfriend. The suspect was arrested by the barangay tanods. JOB
