2 dead, 2 hurt in stabbing, hacking

TWO were killed while two others were severely wounded in three separate hacking and stabbing incidents in Davao City on Sunday.

The latest incident took place around 8:30 p.m. at Purok 6, Barangay Carmen in Baguio District.

The victims were identified as Joselito Angco Carado, 40, and Rene Ramos Sabilla, 41, both of the same place.

Suspects were identified as Joseph Lascia Quintinita, 22, and Melvin Fuentes, of legal age.

Initial investigation conducted by SPO1 Roland Aredo of Baguio District police showed the victims were having a drinking spree inside their house when the two suspects barged in and hacked the victims, who sustained wounds in different parts of their body.

The police said the victims were able to call for police assistance that resulted in the arrest of the suspects.

Seized from suspects' possession was an 18.5-inch bolo.

The victims were rushed to Isaac Robillo Hospital and were declared out of danger by attending physicians.

The suspects are currently detained at Baguio Police Station, awaiting charges to be filed against him.

The second incident happened around 3 p.m. in Barangay Catigan, Toril.

The victim was identified as Christopher Natuel Oyanin, 31, while the suspect was identified Aljem Dasok Utbo, 27. Both are residents of the same place.

Based on investigation conducted by SPO1 Celso M. Halasan of Toril police, the victim, who was under the influence of alcohol, was seen punching the suspect's father after a heated argument while playing "hantak," prompting the suspect to stab the victim that resulted in his instantaneous death.

The suspect immediately fled toward Barangay Bayabas, Toril while the body of the victim was brought to Villa Funeral Parlor.

The suspect later on voluntarily surrendered to Toril police.

Another stabbing incident took place in Matina Aplaya where the victim was identified as Alixis Tuas Lumactod, 22, of Sto. Niño in Matina.

Talomo Police said the victim and his friends were dancing at a resort at Times Beach when an unidentified man appeared from behind the victim and stabbed him three times on his back. The victim tried to fight the suspect back, but got stabbed again in his neck.

The victim, along with his friend, escaped and asked for police assistance while the suspect escaped.

The victim was brought to Southern Philippines Medical Center, but was declared dead upon arrival by attending physicians.

Police are conducting a follow-up operation for the possible identification and arrest of the suspect.
