Sueno confirms receiving Robredo letter on drug war figures

INTERIOR and Local Government Secretary Ismael Sueno on Tuesday dared Vice President Leni Robredo to show proof on her claim about "palit ulo" scheme on the administration's war on drugs.

This, as the DILG chief confirmed that his office received a letter from Robredo requesting documents on the anti-drug operations.

"What 'palit ulo'? There is no such thing as 'palit ulo' in the anti-drugs operations of the PNP (Philippine National Police)," he said in a statement.

"I respectfully request the Vice President to please corroborate her statement," he said.

Robredo, in a video message to a United Nations conference in Austria organized by the DRCNet Foundation, accused the PNP of the "palit-ulo" scheme wherein the policemen would take another family member if they failed to find the person on the drug list.

"It would help if Vice President Robredo presents to us solid proof about this so-called 'Palit Ulo' scheme so we can act on it immediately," Sueno said.

Robredo's critics have said that her office should have sought clarification first from the PNP before making any statement before an international audience.

President Rodrigo Duterte's allies in the House of Representatives have been mulling to file impeachment complaint against Robredo for betrayal of public trust in connection with the video message. (SDR/SunStar Philippines)
