DTI, Tiong San donate trash bins

THE Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in partnership with Tiong San donated 20 trash bins to the city government of Baguio to help solve waste problems in the city.

According to DTI Baguio-Benguet provincial director Freda Gawisan, trash bins donated will be used by barangays.

"The facility was designed na pwedeng ipasok sa lupa para hindi manakaw, it is made of steel, and it has three bins para sa tatlong classification ng basura na pwedeng paghiwahiwalayin, I think it can last also for long," Gawisan said.

Gawisan said the distribution of trash bins is part of the corporate social responsibility of Tiong San proposed during the Diskwento Caravan at the Consumer Welfare Month last year.

"We are caring for the environment, not only for us but also for the future generation. With this project, we want to get the support of the private sectors, and in improving our environment as part of their social responsibility," Gawisan said.

“We are promoting for the greening of the environment, this is a continuing activity, kung kulang pa ang mga bins ay pwedeng madagdagan, we can allocate from the CSR of other partners in the business,” Gawisan added.

Baguio City Mayor Mauricio Domogan acknowledged and thanked the DTI and Tiong San as he assured the trash bins will be distributed to different barangays and these will be put in strategic locations. For the past years, trash bins installed in different areas particularly in the central business district were stolen which became a problem of the city.
