Davao City police director promoted as PNP chief’s assistant

DAVAO City Police Office (DCPO) Director Michael John Dubria will be leaving his post after receiving Monday evening, March 20, the official order for him to be the senior executive assistant of Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Ronald dela Rosa.

The city police director said he will vacate his post on March 24.

He added he will be temporarily replaced by the Police Regional Office-Davao Region Deputy Regional Director for Operations Valeriano de Leon.

Dubria said Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte–Carpio have yet to choose from the list of officials, with at least five names provided by the region, who are qualified to assume the post.

As the senior executive assistant to the police chief, Dubria said he will deliver what is mandated to him.

He also vowed to keep his feet on the ground while performing his duty.

“Trabaho ko lang naman ang magbabago (It is my job that is changed). As to my family, tanggap na nila yung bagong assignment ko (they already accepted my new job). They are used to it. They are happy for me,” Dubria said adding that it is a great honor for him to work with Dela Rosa.

Dela Rosa earlier said he wants Dubria to be his senior executive assistant at the national headquarters because he is comfortable working with him.

He added Dubria already knows his standards when it comes to work.

The senior executive assistant is tasked to assist the PNP chief in all his activities, appointments and will also facilitate all the documents coming in and out from the PNP chief's office.

Dela Rosa said his current executive assistant Alden Delvo, who is also a Davao-based police official, will be assigned to the police regional command in Calabarzon.
