BAGUIO City Councilor Leandro Yangot Jr. is pushing for the improvement of the city market to be among the prime tourist destination in the Summer Capital.

“We want to improve the public market since it is the face of the city, yan ang mukha ng ating siyudad na kailangan nating pagandahin,” Yangot said.

During a recent public hearing, Yangot said vendors have given positive response on the proposed improvement and development of the city market.

“They are in favor in fact we have discussed several actions that can be done. Involvement of the stakeholders are very important together with the mayor,” Yangot.

Yangot said the development of the market involves not only improvement of products, physical structures, display and cleanliness but the characteristics and values of vendors.

“We are considering some landscaping in strategic areas in the market, para gumanda pa ang palengke para sa mga turisting pupunta at bibili,” Yangot said.

The problem of pickpockets in the area will also prioritized in the area, according to Yangot.

“Tutulong din ang mga vendors na manghuli sa mga magnanakaw sa palengke,” Yangot said.

The city official added additional stalls will also be opened in the near future to accommodate illegal vendors.

Yangot also appealed to vendors to cooperate in improving and developing the market.
