Young cast feel pressure for ‘Mulawin vs. Ravena’

THE young members of the cast of the upcoming Kapuso soap “Mulawin vs. Ravena” have been feeling the pressure of the roles that they are about to portray.

Talking to the Davao entertainment press on March 16 at Ahfat 3 Restaurant, the young stars admitted while they are excited to finally take on the role of either a Mulawin or a Ravena, pressure is also there.

The stars joined the Dabawenyos in celebrating the 80th Araw ng Dabaw.

Love teams Bianca Umali and Miguel Tanfelix (BiGuel) and Derrick Monasterio and Bea Binene (DerBea) shared with the ratings of the 2004 fantaserye “Mulawin,” which former Kapuso star Angel Locsin and Richard Gutierrez top billed, was undeniably one of the strongest shows of the network to date. In fact, a movie sequel called “Mulawin: The Movie” was even released in 2005 because of its strong fan base.

This year, a sequel is set to air in the primetime block of the network.

Bea said they have been doing a number of things recently to prepare them for their portrayal.

“May acting workshop po kami. May harness training (We have acting workshop and harness training),” the 19-year-old actress said, adding that as much as possible, they do not want to have doubles in doing their stunts.

“The show will be emotionally challenging, and physically challenging as well,” she continued.

As for Derrick, “Mataas po ang pressure kasi nag-soar po ang GMA dati dahil dito (‘Mulawin’) (The pressure is high since the GMA soared before because of the show).”

Bianca and Miguel agreed with their co-stars.

“Kami pong buong cast ay maraming training, matindi po talaga ang paghahanda (The whole cast have a lot of training, the preparation is extreme),” Bianca said. “May acting workshop po talaga para sa (There really is an acting workshop for the) fight scenes as language.”

“Part po ako ng original. Before, parang laro lang talaga para sa’kin pero ngayon ay alam po namin ang bawat linya, action at nuances na ibibigay namin sa character ay mahalaga (I was part of the original. Before, it was like a game for me but now we know that every lines, actions and nuances given to the characters are important),” Miguel added. He was only five years when he did “Mulawin.” He is now 18.

Apart from their respective roles, which have not been revealed yet, the special effects are also among the things that their fans must look forward. “Mulawin vs. Ravena” may already start airing by second quarter of this year.
