David Lim Jr.'s girlfriend still in Cebu City

TAMAE Takahashi, the woman caught on video with David Lim Jr. during a traffic altercation last March 19, is not hiding and "has no intention of leaving the country to avoid prosecution," said her lawyer.

"We would like to inform you that our client, Ms. Tamae Takahashi, who has been reported to be the subject of a manhunt, is and has always been in Cebu City," said lawyer Esteban Mendoza in a message sent to Cebu City Councilor and lawyer Raymond Garcia.

"She is not or has not been charged with any offense as of this writing and neither is there an ongoing investigation involving her," added Mendoza.

He said Takahashi's camp was baffled by reports of a manhunt "when she can easily be found at her residence."

"There has been no request for Ms. Takahashi to appear before the Philippine National Police or any law enforcement agency as of this time," said Mendoza in a message sent Friday, March 24. "Therefore, any manhunt - if the reports are to be believed - is unnecessary."

The lawyer added that Takahashi has no reason to leave the country to avoid prosecution, "as she is not responsible or liable to anything relative to the reported incident involving the shooting of a nurse."

"Besides, we are not aware of any investigation or case involving her," Mendoza said.

He assured that his client is will participate in any investigation related to the incident.

Police filed Thursday, March 23, a case against Takahashi for violating Article 275 of the Revised Penal Code, or the abandonment of a helpless person.

She was with Lim on March 19, when the latter shot Ephraim Nuñal, 33, a nurse from Talisay City over a traffic altercation.

Nuñal was shot four times, hitting him twice in the left thigh and right ankle. A video of the incident went viral. (LMY/SunStar Philippines)
