Woman, pregnant, nabbed in drug bust

AN eight-months-pregnant woman, allegedly a contact of Jeffrey “Jaguar” Diaz, Cebu’s biggest drug lord, was caught during a drug bust with more than half a million pesos worth of shabu.

Edlyn Generales, 37, was also accused of using her 12-year-old son to hand over two large packs of shabu to the
operatives.

“She used her son to bring the shabu and give it to our operatives while she was beside him,” PO1 Ramonito Dinapo, desk officer of the Talisay Police Station, said.

Aside from facing charges for the violation of Sec. 5 Art. 2 of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, she will also be charged for RA 7610 or Anti Child Abuse Law.

“A case will be filed against her and we will coordinate with the Department of Social Welfare and Development for the child’s welfare,” PO3 Cindy Tabuco of the Women and Children’s Protection Deks (WCPD) said.

In Section 6 of the Juvenile Justice Law, a child 15 years of age or under at the time of the offense shall be exempted from criminal liability.

An arrested person divulged her name to the police as the one supplying him with shabu.

Operatives transacted with Generales by texting her and when she replied that she will deliver 50 grams of shabu for P95,000, the deal was made.

At 11:30 p.m., in the agreed place, a police decoy transacted with Generales, but she let her son bring the stash to the police.

In an interview with SunStar Cebu, Generales, who hails from Barangay Duljo-Fatima denied the allegations, saying that she did not know Diaz personally and that she would never admit that the shabu was hers because it was not in her possession.

“I will never admit that because the drugs were not with me. I pity my son because he doesn’t know,” she said.

Her son was a Grade 6 pupil and already in the custody of the DSWD.

Generales was caught in the vicinity in a mall in Talisay while her son was rescued.

“I was going to meet my friend there,” she explained.

A mother of four, Generales said that she is expected to give birth to her only girl baby and that her condition inside the jail is not helping.

“It’s so hot here. I think that I’m dying,” she said.

Generales admitted that she used drugs before but stopped when she got pregnant.

She also revealed that she served jailtime in the Cebu City Jail for a year and nine months for the same drug charges after she got caught in a buy-bust.

The Talisay City Police confiscated a total of P590,000 worth of shabu in the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) value inside two large packs.
