Daniel Matsunaga talks style, shopping

SHOPPERS were in a frenzy last Friday night at Ayala Center Cebu. It wasn’t just the launching of the Love to Shop promo that got them in a tizzy, but also the presence of heartthrob Daniel Matsunaga which goes to show, shopping has never been this fun.

The 26-year-old actor made an appearance at the event located at the Gallery in the new wing of the mall and serenaded the crowd as he belted the song When You Say Nothing At All and other tracks. Given the occasion, the guest celebrity was asked if he likes to shop. “I love shopping, of course!” he said. “It’s exciting to be able to spend your own money that you’ve worked so hard for. You can buy your own things without the help of anybody else.”

With regard to selecting his clothing, the Brazilian-Japanese model is hands-on with his wardrobe selection, with the occasional help from his sibling. “I don’t have a personal stylist. Normally I ask for help from my sister. She always helps me style myself especially when I have problems searching for a good look for different occasions,” he said. As for his personal style, he prefers a simple look. “I’m very happy to be simple and as much as possible something that makes me look good and feel comfortable,” Daniel said.

Apart from guestings, Daniel has many projects lined up. When it comes to acting, he prefers tackling a variety of roles, including that of a warrior and Filipino roles apart from the role of a foreigner. “I prefer action or rom-com roles because I’m trying to improve in all aspects, especially when it comes to Tagalog. Normally they give me roles where I play a foreigner. I’m okay with those roles since I’m in the process of learning but as much as I can, I really want Tagalog roles,” he stated.

He considers the likes of Brad Pitt as his acting icon. When asked which actress he would love to partner with, “I would love to partner with Erich Gonzales because she’s the prettiest and most lovely person ever,” he said, beaming.
